The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy works as a model and catalyst for the conservation of wildlife and its habitat.
Situated in northern Kenya, Lewa holds many threatened species including critically endangered black rhino and endangered Grevy’s zebra. Its activities focus on species protection, the initiation and support of community conservation and development programmes, and the education of neighbouring areas in the value of wildlife. The Lewa Education Programme directly supports 27 schools around the conservancy, with over 10,000 students at all levels of education, who among other things benefit from an extensive digital literacy programme, as well as PACE. Lewa’s Community Healthcare Programme meanwhile runs a health clinic at the Conservancy, and addresses the healthcare needs of Lewa staff and local communities.
The annual Lewa Safari Marathon is organised by Tusk and Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, raising valuable funds for the conservancy and other projects throughout Kenya.

How Tusk works with Our Project Partners
We provide critical funding to enable our project partners to grow and increase their impact on habitat and wildlife, while also enabling, nurturing and supporting collaboration between them, for greater synergy and impact.
We help to increase awareness and wider support for our partners’ efforts, while also sharing important conservation messages, from the vital and varied roles of wildlife rangers, to the benefits of community-driven conservation, both within Africa and internationally.
Lewa Wildlife Conservancy has been a Tusk partner since 2001.
