Grevy’s Zebra Trust (GZT) aims to conserve and grow the Grevy’s zebra population in Kenya.
Grevy’s zebra are the most threatened of the three zebra species, with almost all the surviving population found in northern Kenya and southern Ethiopia. Working closely with local communities, GZT combats the zebras’ main threats of habitat degradation, lack of dry season water access, and hunting by nomadic pastoralists.
GZT employs a broad network of local Scouts, Ambassadors and Warriors to monitor the zebra and engage local communities. These teams provide important data on zebra distribution and behaviour, enabling them to identify and implement interventions such as water source management and supplemental feeding. GZT also supports students through their secondary school education with Grevy’s zebra scholarships.

How Tusk works with Our Project Partners
We provide critical funding to enable our project partners to grow and increase their impact on habitat and wildlife, while also enabling, nurturing and supporting collaboration between them, for greater synergy and impact.
We help to increase awareness and wider support for our partners’ efforts, while also sharing important conservation messages, from the vital and varied roles of wildlife rangers, to the benefits of community-driven conservation, both within Africa and internationally.
Grevy’s Zebra Trust has been a Tusk partner since 2008.
