The Malilangwe Trust manages the Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve for biodiversity conservation, community development and sustainable ecotourism.
Connected to the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park, it has recovered healthy populations of many key species including elephant, black and white rhino, lion, cheetah, and wild dog. The Trust’s scout team continuously monitors the reserve.
Ecological research provides important information for management decisions. Along with employing over 200 local people, the Trust provides meals to 20,000 children each school day, gives bursaries and develops infrastructure at schools, clinics and community gardens.
An ecotourism lodge provides jobs for the community and a market for produce. The Malilangwe Trust has a strong sustainability ethic with a programme of recycling, carbon emission reduction and water management.

How Tusk works with Our Project Partners
We provide critical funding to enable our project partners to grow and increase their impact on habitat and wildlife, while also enabling, nurturing and supporting collaboration between them, for greater synergy and impact.
We help to increase awareness and wider support for our partners’ efforts, while also sharing important conservation messages, from the vital and varied roles of wildlife rangers, to the benefits of community-driven conservation, both within Africa and internationally.
Malilangwe Trust has been a Tusk partner since 2016.
