We are pleased to announce that two new judges will be joining our esteemed judging panel for the Tusk Conservation Awards 2024.
The Tusk Conservation Awards judging panel features some of the leading conservation figures working in Africa today. They are all experts in their fields, with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities of African conservationists.
Cathy Dreyer joins the judging panel as a previous winner of the Tusk Award for Conservation in Africa 2016. She was the first South African and female to receive this award. Since 2021 Cathy has been the Head Ranger for Ranger Services at Kruger National Park, where again she has paved the way, becoming the first female to be head ranger.
Our second new judge is Dr Arthur Tuda who joins us with a PhD in Marine and Coastal Management and over 25 years’ experience managing marine protected areas. He is the founder and leader of the Western Indian Ocean Marine Protected Area (MPAs) Practitioners Network, bringing together marine conservation managers to help manage the region’s network of MPAs.

- Prince William Award for Conservation in Africa sponsored by NinetyOne
A lifetime achievement award, which recognises outstanding dedication and exceptional continued contribution to conservation in Africa.
- Tusk Award for Conservation in Africa sponsored by Defender
To award an individual judged to be emerging as a leading conservationist, in recognition of their outstanding contribution to conservation and considerable success shown in their chosen field.
- Tusk Wildlife Ranger Award sponsored by The Nick Maughan Foundation
An award to recognise the dedication and commitment of an individual who works in thefield on a daily basis to protect Africa’s wildlife.
