The Tsavo Trust works with the Kenya Wildlife Service to improve the security of the Tsavo Conservation Area, support local communities and take care of rescued wildlife.
Tsavo hosts the country’s largest single elephant population of over 10,000 – including the famous ‘Big Tuskers’ – closely monitored by four teams and a light aircraft. Being nearly the size of Switzerland, it’s a huge area to monitor and patrol, and illegal incursions for poaching, logging and cattle grazing are a constant threat.
Tsavo Trust facilitates the development of community conservancies and local enterprises, which generate income for local people. The Tsavo Sanctuary meanwhile cares for injured, sick and orphaned wild animals until they can be returned to their natural habitat.

How Tusk works with Our Project Partners
We provide critical funding to enable our project partners to grow and increase their impact on habitat and wildlife, while also enabling, nurturing and supporting collaboration between them, for greater synergy and impact.
We help to increase awareness and wider support for our partners’ efforts, while also sharing important conservation messages, from the vital and varied roles of wildlife rangers, to the benefits of community-driven conservation, both within Africa and internationally.
Tsavo Trust has been a Tusk partner since 2022.
