The Duke of Cambridge speaks out on the illegal wildlife trade for Chinese television

21st October 2015

The Duke of Cambridge makes a passionate speech on the urgent work needed to combat the illegal wildlife trade to a group of Chinese and UK students.

Significantly, the speech at the Maughan Library at King’s College London on 19th October, will be aired on Chinese television, as part of a series of programmes called Let’s Talk, and is timed to highlight the state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to London.

Charlie Mayhew, CEO of Tusk, commented:
“I think this is a big moment. The Chinese clearly have respect for Prince William on this particular issue and since his visit in March we have seen a very significant step by President Xi in saying they will close down the domestic ivory trade.”

(As quoted in The Sunday Telegraph on 18th October 2015.)
