Wild Impact is dedicated to marine conservation and community development at sites where the tourism company &Beyond operate.
Their aim is to support the restoration and community-based conservation of the coral reefs of Mnemba Island on the coast of Tanzania and Mozambique’s Benguerra Islands. The coral reef systems have deteriorated significantly over the past two decades, due to a combination of factors including tourism and fishing, with coral cover down to 5%.
Wild Impact is addressing the degradation through the expansion of a coral reef nursery and the transplantation of up to 420 coral pieces per month from the nursery to the atoll. They also deliver an education programme for fishers and local boatmen, sharing knowledge on why and how the reefs can be protected.

How Tusk works with Our Project Partners
We provide critical funding to enable our project partners to grow and increase their impact on habitat and wildlife, while also enabling, nurturing and supporting collaboration between them, for greater synergy and impact.
We help to increase awareness and wider support for our partners’ efforts, while also sharing important conservation messages, from the vital and varied roles of wildlife rangers, to the benefits of community-driven conservation, both within Africa and internationally.
Wild Impact has been a Tusk partner since 2020.
