Save the Rhino Trust Namibia (SRT) works to protect the last free-roaming population of black rhinos in the world.
These desert-adapted black rhinos are spread across more than 25,000ha of arid land, most of it unfenced and with no protected area status. The population faces the constant threat of poaching.
SRT works with the Ministry of Environment and Tourism to provide training, resources and personnel for anti-poaching operations and traditional patrols. These are conducted on foot, by vehicle, by air, and on camel and donkey in the most inaccessible locations. Information is gathered from local informants and high-tech systems are used to plan patrols. Local communities are engaged through talks, newsletters and media appearances.

How Tusk works with Our Project Partners
We provide critical funding to enable our project partners to grow and increase their impact on habitat and wildlife, while also enabling, nurturing and supporting collaboration between them, for greater synergy and impact.
We help to increase awareness and wider support for our partners’ efforts, while also sharing important conservation messages, from the vital and varied roles of wildlife rangers, to the benefits of community-driven conservation, both within Africa and internationally.
Save the Rhino Trust has been a Tusk partner since 2008.
