Jacob Vilató

Created 'Beneath the Turtle' for the Tusk Turtle Trail 2025

Beneath the Turtle

Jacob Vilató is an internationally recognised visual artist. His emotionally charged work explores perception, identity and memory through bold color and expressive gestures. Exhibited worldwide, his practice extends beyond painting into editorial and curatorial projects. He lives and works in Barcelona.

“A sea turtle bears a black human figure: shadow or stain, care or invasion. The work evokes our uneasy coexistence with nature: marked by imprint, friction, and silent permanence.”
Jacob Vilató

‘Beneath the Turtle’ is sponsored by Brian and Jessica Robinson

About the Tusk Turtle Trail

The Tusk Turtle Trail is a vibrant public art exhibition highlighting the urgent need to protect our oceans and endangered sea turtles.

From July to September 2025, a flotilla of artist-designed turtle sculptures will appear across central London — each one a unique celebration of marine life and a call to action for conservation. You can follow the trail with our online map or download a printable map.

At the end of the trail, the turtles will be auctioned to raise vital funds for Tusk’s work protecting marine wildlife and ecosystems.
