Adam Dant

Created 'Turtle London (The London History Tortoise)' for the Tusk Turtle Trail 2025

Turtle London (The London History Tortoise)

Adam Dant was a recipient of The Rome Scholarship in printmaking in 1993, The Jerwood Drawing prize in 2002 and was appointed by parliament as ‘The Official Artist of The 2015 UK General Election’. His pictorial maps are designed to appear in the most surprising of settings, be those pubs, hotels, or even galleries and museums.

“Victorians kept tortoises as a panacea against mania caused by the new phenomenon of train travel. This inspired ‘Turtle London’, telling testudineous tales using its shell as a map.”
Adam Dant

‘Turtle London (The London History Tortoise)’ is sponsored by Mishcon de Reya

About the Tusk Turtle Trail

The Tusk Turtle Trail is a vibrant public art exhibition highlighting the urgent need to protect our oceans and endangered sea turtles.

From July to September 2025, a flotilla of artist-designed turtle sculptures will appear across central London — each one a unique celebration of marine life and a call to action for conservation. You can follow the trail with our online map or download a printable map.

At the end of the trail, the turtles will be auctioned to raise vital funds for Tusk’s work protecting marine wildlife and ecosystems.
